Suitable for which type of housing?
House
additional to add for housing
He can be vocal when he’s playing and when his humans leave the home. Because of this, a home without shared walls would be ideal, or a home with understanding neighbours who are comfortable with some occasional noise.
Is your dog good with other dogs?
Yes
additional to add for dog interactions
He loves other dogs and is very friendly and submissive when playing. He enjoys having a playmate and would do best with another dog who enjoys playing and is comfortable with his enthusiastic play style. He may not be the best match for a dog who prefers not to play.
Is your dog good with cats?
Untested
additional to add for cat interactions
He has shown no interest in chasing cats we’ve encountered on walks. We think he could do well with a dog-savvy cat, especially one who is comfortable with playful dogs. He is very submissive but does enjoy playing, so a confident cat who can set boundaries would likely be the best match.
Is your dog good with kids?
Untested
additional to add for kids interaction
He is very friendly with people of all ages and loves meeting new humans! As a puppy, he can get excited and will sometimes nibble or mouth at people, but he is still learning that this isn’t appropriate. Because of this, children who are comfortable around puppies and can help reinforce gentle play would be the best fit.
Is your dog house trained?
Yes
additional to add for house training
He has been house trained since day 1 :)
Is your dog crate trained?
No
additional to add for crate training
He is not currently a fan of using a crate.
Does your dog have any special needs?
He will need a patient adopter who is willing to continue working on his training and puppy manners. He is still young and has lots to learn, but with consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, he is sure to continue making great progress!
Please note Freedom's Vetting team's notes: DOB 10/1/2025
Brooks came into care with cherry eye which we will have corrected at the vet. He was also diagnosed with Hookworm and Giardia and is currently being treated.
Does your dog display any aggression (toys, food, people)?
None! He has shown no signs of aggression and is incredibly friendly with both people and dogs. He is very easygoing and has no issues with people being near or even taking food or treats from him.
Is your dog playful?
Absolutely! He is a very playful puppy and loves to play with both people and other dogs. He is still learning to recognize boundaries and may try to keep playing even when another person or animal isn’t interested, so he will need some guidance and patience as he learns when it’s time to give others space.
Does your dog like to snuggle?
He absolutely loves to snuggle! Like many big dogs, he doesn’t quite understand how big he is and will happily climb onto your lap for some extra love and attention. He’s a big sweetheart who loves being close to his people.
Does your dog know basic commands? (e.g., Sit, Stay)
He knows how to sit.
Does your dog know any special tricks?
He does not
Does your dog like to go on walks?
He loves going on walks! He walks nicely with a harness and is easy to handle. He does sometimes bark at people because he gets excited and wants to say hello, but it’s not aggressive and he is easily redirected with a treat. He’s a happy, social guy who just really wants everyone to come say hi!
Does your dog have any fears?
None
Does your dog have any unique traits (personality or physical)?
He is a very silly boy :)
What are the first three words that come to mind when you think of your dog?
loving, silly, handsome
In a short paragraph, please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog.
Brooks is a happy, affectionate, and playful puppy who loves people, dogs, and being around his humans. He is very food motivated, which makes training and redirecting him easier, and he is good in the car. Like any puppy, he is still learning his manners and can be mouthy when excited, occasionally chew on things, and needs reminders about respecting boundaries. He loves to snuggle, play, and be involved in everything his humans are doing. He will need to work on crate training and being alone. He will do best with a patient family who is willing to continue his training and help him learn how to be the best dog he can be!
